This page is here to provide a clear, supportive place for learners and session hosts to find what they need, whether they’re just getting started or returning to take part in new ways.
Use the sections below to find help with anything you’re trying to do. You can click on each heading to expand more detail.
Find a question or statement that reflects what you want to do. Click on the heading to expand it for more detail. Clicking on a new heading collapses the old one.
I want to be part of a Community of PracticeThis site supports the formation of Communities of Practice (CoPs) — small, self-organising groups of people who want to learn, reflect, and grow together around a shared focus.
You don’t need to wait for something formal to be set up — you can start the ball rolling yourself.
1. Propose a session that welcomes others into a shared topic or challenge. You might call it a “Community of Practice kick-off” or simply describe what you’re interested in exploring.
2. Use the session to invite kōrero, reflection, and shared learning. You can offer to host regularly or co-host with others.
3. After the session, continue the conversation in The Hub — there’s a forum space there where CoP groups can meet, reflect, and plan next steps.
4. If you’d like support or ideas for getting a CoP going, RSVP to the introductory CoP session on the Session page and browse our guidance and advice on starting and maintaining a CoP.
I want to propose a sessionTo propose a session:
1. Go to the Sessions page.
2. Click “Propose a Session” at the top of the page.
3. Choose whether you’re proposing to host the session yourself or requesting someone else to.
4. Fill in the form with your idea — including a title, description, duration, and any goals.
5. Submit the form. Your session will appear as either Proposed (if you’re hosting) or Requested (if you want someone else to host).
I want to host a requested sessionTo host a session someone else has requested:
1. Go to the Sessions page and look for sessions with the “Requested” label.
2. Click the session to open it.
3. Click the “Host This Session” button.
4. You’ll become the session host and be prompted to fill in missing information (like time, date, or outcome).
5. Once updated, the session’s status will change to Proposed and others can join the discussion.
I want to RSVP to a sessionTo join a session that’s already confirmed:
1. Go to the Calendar page.
2. Browse upcoming confirmed sessions.
3. Click any session to open its event page.
4. Use the RSVP form to register your interest.
5. You’ll see your registration saved under the “My Bookings” page.
I want to cancel my RSVPTo cancel your RSVP for a session:
Go to the My Bookings page (linked from the Calendar).
Find the session you previously registered for.
Click the “Cancel” button to remove your RSVP.
You’ll receive confirmation that your booking has been removed.
If you change your mind later, you can RSVP again.
I want to search for sessions by topic or personYou can use search, filters, and sorting options to find sessions that match your interests.
1. Use the search bar above the session cards to look for keywords in the session title or description. You can enter a topic (e.g. “decolonisation”) or a term of interest.
2. Use the filters to narrow results:
• Date Posted — choose a date range to find sessions created during a specific time period.
• Session Status — filter by status such as Requested, Proposed, Confirmed, etc.
• Session Host — tick one or more hosts to only show sessions by those people.
3. Use the Sort By dropdown at the bottom to change the order of the results — e.g. to sort by newest, alphabetical, or other available options.
4. Combine search + filters + sorting to explore sessions more precisely or find new ones since your last visit.
I want to see what sessions are coming upTo browse upcoming confirmed sessions:
1. Go to the Calendar page.
2. Browse upcoming confirmed sessions displayed by date.
3. Click a session to open its details.
4. Use the RSVP form if you’d like to join.
5. Add it to your personal calendar if needed (using the “Add to Calendar” option).
I want to know what the session statuses meanSessions move through different statuses depending on where they are in the process.
Requested — someone would like this session to happen, but there isnt a host for it yet.
Proposed — a host has stepped forward and is developing the session; support them by making comments or offering to help..
Confirmed — it’s scheduled, has a date and time, and can be RSVP’d to on the Calendar page.
Delivered — the session has already run; the discussion is still open.
Cancelled — the session isn’t going ahead, but comments are still visible and discussion can still occur.
I want to read or comment on a session ideaYou can join the conversation on any session that’s been proposed or requested; even sessions that have been cancelled or delivered will still be open for comments.
1. Go to the Sessions page.
2. Browse the session cards and find one that interests you.
3. Click on the session to open the full description and comments.
4. Use the comment box to share your thoughts, ask a question, or support the idea; even a simple thumbs up is a great way to show your support.
Your input helps others decide whether to host or attend.
I want to watch the recording of a session I missedSome sessions may have a recording available, depending on the host’s preferences and the content.
If a session was recorded, the link will be included in the session description once it’s available. Not all sessions will be recorded, so if you’re unsure, feel free to comment on the session page or contact the session host to check.
I want to know more about SessionsSessions are how we share, learn, and grow together. These are ideas people have for a shared virtual gathering (or perhaps even kanohi ki te kanohi for local groups). These might be a webinar, online workshop, discussion group or panel, or focussed Community of Practice hui for a specific group. Whether you’re proposing an idea, requesting a topic, or just browsing to see what’s happening — sessions are the heart of the learning opportunities on this site.
Visit the Sessions Help Page to learn how sessions work, how to host or request one, and how to join the kōrero.
I want to join or start an informal conversationThe Hub is our shared space for reflection, questions, and ongoing kōrero — more informal than a session, and open to all members.
1. Go to The Hub from the main menu.
2. Browse existing conversations or start your own. The Hub includes spaces for:
• Treaty of Waitangi Community (intros, what’s happening, topical kōrero)
• Treaty Education (ACE, tertiary, and general education discussion)
• Treaty Implementation (challenges and insights from practice)
• Site kōrero (pātai, feedback, and how to use the site)
3. Add your own post or respond to someone else’s.
The Hub is visible only to people who are logged in as site members, but please still post with care and respect — not all participants may be known to you.
I want to know more about the Community Hub and how it worksThe Community Hub is where kōrero continues between workshops, sessions, and day-to-day mahi. It’s a semi-private online space for people working to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi — whether you’re a facilitator, an ally, or someone helping shift how your organisation works.
The Hub is built around discussion forums. You can browse what others are talking about, join existing kōrero, or start a new thread of your own — maybe to share a resource, unpack a tricky facilitation moment, or ask for guidance on implementing Treaty commitments.
You’ll find space for both Treaty educators and Treaty implementers, and many of here are both. Whether you’re sharing, venting, learning, or listening — you’re welcome here.
Visit the Community Hub Forums to read, post, or explore.
Here is more information on the different actions and FAQ for the forums themselves.
I want to know when a session I care about is confirmedRight now, there is no automatic email or notification when a session’s status changes (e.g. from Requested to Confirmed).
1. If you’ve commented on a session, you might receive notifications about replies — but not about status updates.
2, Watch for sessions changing status to “Confirmed” by checking the Calendar or the Sessions page.
3. Bookmark or track the sessions you’re interested in.
4. Some sessions may be announced via The Hub or through community updates.
If this is a feature you’d find useful, please comment in the forums — these will be monitored for requested future improvements.
I want to suggest an improvementIf you have an idea to make this site work better for you or others, it would be great if you could share it. There are a couple of ways you can do this:
1. Post your idea in The Hub; there is a forum at the bottom of the Hub specifically for patai, suggestions, and feedback.
2. Go to the Contact page to send your suggestion directly to the site team.
Your feedback helps shape how the site evolves and supports others.
I want to find Treaty Education ResourcesThe website Treaty Educators Aotearoa is a repository for Treaty Education resources shared from educators across the country.
This site is primarily focused on supporting dialogue and practice between kaimahi. However, future integration is possible if it makes sense to the community.
