About the Community Hub

The Community Hub is a space for connection, learning, and support — created for anyone committed to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in their mahi. Whether you’re delivering Treaty education or working inside an organisation to bring the Treaty to life, this is your place to reflect, share ideas, and grow with others doing the same.

You might be:

A facilitator teaching Treaty principles to mixed or tauiwi audiences
A leader or staff member implementing Treaty commitments in policy or practice
A Treaty learner or ally looking to deepen your understanding
All of the above

This hub is designed to support both educators and implementers — while encouraging the overlaps, connections, and shared challenges between them.

How to Use the Community Hub

The Community Hub is where you can explore ideas, share resources, and ask questions. Here’s how to get started:

• Browse by Category: Forums are grouped by themes — like Treaty education, sector-specific work, and topical issues.
• Join the Conversation: Click on a forum, then a topic, to read and reply.
• Start a New Topic: Found a gap or have a burning question? Click “New Topic” within the right forum.
• Subscribe for Updates: Click the subscribe link to get notified of replies.
• Tag or Quote Others: Keep kōrero flowing by referencing or quoting what others have said.

Do I need to register to take part?

Yes. You need to be logged in to view the forums, post or reply. If you already have an account for the wider site, you’re ready to go. Just head to the Community Hub.

How do I reply to someone’s post?

Click into a topic, scroll to the bottom, and use the “Your reply” box. Then click Submit to post. You can also quote someone’s words using the quote icon in their post.

How do I start a new discussion?

Choose the forum area that best fits your topic (e.g. Treaty Ed, Implementation), and click New Topic. Add a title, write your post, and click Submit. That’s it!

What can I post about?

Anything related to Treaty education, implementation, facilitation, questions, challenges, ideas, or resources. You can reply to others or start your own thread in the relevant forum section.

Who can see what I post?

Anything posted in the forums is visible to other logged-in members of the Community Hub — it’s a shared space for trusted users, not the public internet.

Please remember though that there is not tight restrictions over who can join the community.

How do I find topics that interest me?

Use your browser’s Find function (Ctrl+F / Cmd+F), or scroll through the forums by category. The forum doesn’t currently have a global search, so titles and structure help a lot.

Will I get notified when someone replies?

Yes — if you subscribe to a topic or forum. Click the “Subscribe” link at the top of a forum or topic to get email updates.

Can I edit or delete my own posts?

You can edit your posts for a short time after submitting (usually about 15 minutes). After that, contact the site admin if you need to make a change.

Is there moderation?

Yes. The site administrators can move or remove posts that don’t align with our community principles (respect, inclusion, courage). Most of the time, though, it’s about keeping things tidy — not policing ideas.

What if I see something that feels unsafe or inappropriate?

Use the “Report” button on any post. We want this to be a safe and respectful space for everyone.
